Marion Rose's 124.50 lb. Cubera SnapperRAY ROSHER AND TEAM HOSTILE WIN SAILFISH CUP EVENT

Using a PENN International 16VS reel spooled with Stren Stamina fishing line, Ray Rosher and Team Hostile won the first tournament of the World Sailfish Cup, which took place out of Miami Beach Marina. Rosher and Team Hostile claimed the event by a mere 12 minutes that came with a prize package of $228,800 and the lead in the Sailfish Pro Series.

Tuesday's leader, Advanced Roofing, released its 20th sailfish of the tournament at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday. But Hostile had released its 20th fish at 12:07 p.m. Neither team scored any more fish before lines-out, so the victory went to Hostile because it landed its final fish first.

''A nail-biter,'' Rosher said. 'They got five in the morning, and we had one. And then we slowly chipped away. When we caught our last one, I said, `no way it's going to hold. ''

“The PENN International 16VS reels are the ultimate sailfish and white marlin reels,” said Mike Rice, PENN’s Sr. Product Manager. “The International series (which includes the 16VS) are the best built big game reels on the market and they are proudly made right here in the USA. These reels are virtually fail-proof and offer unmatched performance while fishing in pressure situations with big money on the line. We congratulate Team Hostile for another impressive showing.”

The PENN International 16VS gives the saltwater angler a high performance two-speed reel with a high gear ratio of 5.3:1 with a line retrieve of 45 inches and a low gear ratio of 2.1:1 with a 17-inch retrieve that is easily managed with PENN’s patented Quick-Shift™ system. Dura-Drag ™ washers offer a drag system that virtually eliminates hesitation and offers consistent performance throughout the fight. Stainless steel gears and four ball bearings give the angler the smoothest performance in saltwater. The 16VS spool capacity is 1000 yards of 16-pound test monofilament or 525 yards of 80-pound braid with 50-yards of 60-pound topshot.
